French systems integrator Sylis SA is expanding into neighboring Belgium via the acquisition of a controlling 70% stake in IBT, a leading Belgian SI with offices in Liege (where it is headquartered), Brussels and Ghent. In France, Sylis has also signed a letter of intent for the acquisition of Nota Multimedia, a small Paris-based company specializing in consultancy for and implementation of multimedia projects. Sylis, which is based in Lambersant, just outside Lille, did not reveal the value of either transaction. The IBT acquisition is the larger of the two, and makes Sylis considerably larger. While Sylis expects to report annual revenues of Fr235m ($42m), its new Belgian subsidiary reckons it will be registering Fr178m ($32m) in 1998. Nota is much smaller, but brings to Sylis an expertise in graphic applications, explained Sylis president Jacques Tricot.
