French electronics company Archos has announced a new, enhanced version of the Archos 9 computer tablet.
The new version, running on Windows 7 OS instead of Google’s Android, is priced at £399.99.
Its sister tablets, the Archos 101 and Archos 7, run on Android.
The company said users have access to Windows, Live Essentials to install and download Microsoft programmes such as Live Mail and Movie Maker.
Windows 7 also includes desktop gadgets providing live news and weather information.
The device provides access to Facebook and Twitter via the browser.
The Archos 9 features a 8.9-inch LED backlit screen with a 1024×600 resolution. It supports HD 1080p playback.
A 1.2GHz Intel Atom processor powers the 17mm thick tablet and it has 1GB of RAM and a 32GB solid state disk drive. The tablet is Wi-Fi enabled and comes with Bluetooth, a USB port, a 1.3MP webcam and an Ethernet port.
The company said, an integrated kickstand in the device offers two positions, one for typing and Web browsing and one for multimedia playback or video-chat.
The tablet weighs about 800g and has an optical pad with left and right mouse buttons.
