Instrumentation Engineering (IE) develops Automated Test Equipment (ATE) systems worldwide for the communications, consumer, automotive, medical and aerospace industries. The company has significant experience and expertise in designing and building custom test systems for optical and wireless network equipment. The acquisition further solidifies Flextronics’ capabilities and service offerings that now include:

Complete Test System platforms for component, module and system-level testing;

Engineering design services for development and updating of test platforms;

Application programming services from concept to final Test Program Sets;

Cable/optical fiber management techniques that maintain signal integrity and reduce system losses;

The acquisition of IE, when integrated and leveraged with our existing global test business, will create a powerful and unparalleled systems test capability for our customers, stated Ron Snyder, President of Flextronics Design. There is growing trend in our customer base to outsource the development and manufacture of functional test systems and with the addition of IE we are extremely well positioned to meet this increasing demand. IE will become a wholly owned subsidiary of Flextronics Design and will maintain its brand identity as Instrumentation Engineering, Inc. once the deal is complete. Ken Carroll will maintain his position as President of IE and will take on a global role within Flextronics’ test operations worldwide.
