Helsinki, Finland-based Satama Interactive has bought Stockholm, Sweden-based fellow e-consultancy Brand Internet to help boost its Scandinavian interests. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. Brand Internet brings a further eight heads to Satama’s existing pool of consultants specializing in the strategic use of internet branding, complementing Satama’s other strategic and consulting services based around e-commerce and customer relationship management. Satama’s purchase may be small but it is significant for the company which sees Sweden as key to its future operations. Satama has also commenced operations in Germany and the UK this summer, and is also looking to build its wireless services business.
Brand Internet CEO Ajje Ljungberg said he hoped Brand would help Setama export the Scandinavian design to the rest of the internet world. Satama was formed in October 1997 from the merger of four Finnish internet consultancies – Ufolabs Finland Oy, Piipaa Oy, Interweb Design Oy, and the new media division of business magazine publisher Talentum Oy. Salama now has more than 200 staff. It is seeking a listing on the Helsinki stock exchange in 2002.
