The State of Mississippi has awarded the Mississippi Automated Revenue Systems (MARS) contract to the Fast Enterprises (FAST), a provider of software and information technology consulting services.
Under this five-year agreement, FAST will provide its GenTax commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) software product to the Mississippi Department of Revenue’s offering for a completely integrated tax and revenue system.
Additionally, FAST will install software, data conversion services, technical support, agency-specific system configuration, user testing, functional and technical training, and post-implementation support services.
FAST said that the GenTax-based MARS project will replace Mississippi’s current legacy applications with a fully integrated offering to manage over 40 tax and license programs for business and individual taxpayers.
Mississippi Department of Revenue commissioner Ed Morgan said they are getting an integrated tax management system in place that enhances customer service, increases the security and accuracy of taxpayer data, and significantly improves their business processes and operational efficiencies.
