Storage manufacturer Exabyte Corp’s third quarter revenues showed revenues of $92.7m compared to $84.1m in the same quarter last year, and income of $3.7m compared to a loss lass time of $24.9m. Profits for the nine months were $10.7m against losses last time of $15.7m. Sales of its 8mm Mammoth tape drive tripled from the previous quarter, with new OEM deals signed with Apple, NCR, Tektronix and Sun Microsystems. Sales of its lower-end 8mm EXB-8700 drive were also strong. Shipments of the older EXB-8505XL drive are now on the decline, and library and media businesses showed moderate sequential increases. Minicartridge unit shipments tripled, representing 8% of total revenues. Gross margins grew to 28.7% from 27.4% last quarter.
