Three ex-Google engineers unveiled the Remix Ultra Tablet at CES 2015, with visitors noting the striking similarities between the new tablet and Microsoft’s Surface tablet.
Created by Chinese company Jide, the company which the three ex-Google employees founded, the Remix Ultra Tablet features a magnetically attached keyboard and a kickstand which supports dual angles between 40 and 80 degrees.
It features an 11.6" 1080p multi-touch HD display, with a 16: 9 aspect ratio which will allow users to use the tablet as a laptop.
The Remix Ultra Tablet is powered by the NVIDIA Tegra 4+1 A15 Processor with 2GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. Thememory can be expanded up to 128GB.
Unlike Surface Pro, the Remix will run on a modified version of Android dubbed ‘Remix OS’ which has taken design cues from Android Lollipop and Microsoft’s "Metro" design language, reported The Verge.
According to Jide, the OS is designed to give the tablet a PC like experience which is expected to fulfill the demands of school and work life.
It also features 5MP camera and dual mics, which has been especially designed for video conferencing.
Jide co-founder Ben Luk said: "Android Tablets have access to a world of apps, are thin, lightweight and great at power saving.
"But, most are terrible at getting real work done. And while laptops are great at productivity, they are too heavy, still power inefficient, and lack touchscreens."
"We believe you can have it all-productivity and mobility. Remix is the result of that vision."
