The contract represents Ericsson’s biggest single contract award to date, and will see it expand the operator’s GSM/EDGE network into rural areas and provide capacity management over the next two years.
Specifically, Ericsson will design, plan, deploy, optimize, and manage Bharti Airtel’s GSM network across 15 regional circles in India as well as its pan-India pre-paid platform across 23 circles. Ericsson claims to manage about 70% of Bharti’s GSM/EDGE network in India.
