Stockholm, Sweden-based Ericsson paid an undisclosed sum to purchase the Teleca OSS division of wireless software and services company Teleca. The target unit has 40 employees specialized in integrating telecoms management systems for network operators.
The deal represents Ericsson’s second significant acquisition in the services space in the last 10 months, and follows its purchase of French network integrator Audiolog SA in September 2004.
Teleca also disposed of its UniView software division in January 2005 as part of its plan to improve its profitability. In the first quarter ending March 31, 2005, it increased net profit 16% to SEK 27.6m ($3.5m) on revenue that grew 17% to SEK 758.1m ($95.2m).
