London-based personal computer manufacturer Elonex Plc has plunged into the multimedia market with a range of products aimed at the business market. The company, which plans to open a factory – its second – in Cumbernauld, Scotland, this month, has launched a range of Vesa local bus personal computers priced at from UKP1,315, with CPU options ranging from a 25MHz 80486SX to a 60MHz Pentium machine. Also included in the machines is a Sony Corp CD-ROM drive and a Mediavision Pro Audio Spectrum 16 sound board, along with a Altec Lainseng speaker system, 8Mb RAM and a minimum 250Mb hard disk. Existing personal computers can also be upgraded using multimedia kits containing the CD-ROM drive, the sound board and the speaker systems, Elonex says.
