Sweet Spot Solutions, known as S3, enables remote access to a VPN from most internet-enabled terminals via portable USB flash drives. DirectPointe said the purchase would increase the level of security around its network, server, and PC services.

As data becomes increasingly accessible and distributed, the need to securely authenticate users becomes critical, said DirectPointe CEO Michael Proper. This acquisition will enable DirectPointe’s customers using S3’s patented clientless VPN technology to safely and securely access data remotely.

The acquisition is Lindon, Utah-based DirectPointe’s third so far this year. Last month, the company expanded its national presence with the addition of TechnologyWorks, a services provider with strong client bases in both Boston and San Francisco, while in March it bought System Technology, a provider of managed print services.
