Digithurst Ltd, based in Royston, Hertfordshire, has announced the fruits of a UKP750,000 investment into developing multimedia technology for the desk-top personal computer market. Picture Book Professional, its latest release, is designed for use with MS-DOS micros, is mouse-driven and enables live video to run in a Windows environment. It enables video frames to be captured, stored, digitised, analysed and altered. The Inmos Transputer-based colour image processor board is designed to be plugged into an AT- alike and provides conversion from video sour ces such as laser disks, videodisks, recorders and cameras into graphics. There is also a video mixing and graphic overlay facility and other programs can be run in other windows. The software supplied runs the board but it can be used in conjunction with other software such as Autodesk’s AutoCAD, animators and spread sheets. The board is aimed at educational markets and scientific research involving image analysis. The price of the board and software package is UKP1,300. Digithurst employs 14 peo ple and achieved an annual turnover last year of over UKP1m. Owned by its two directors, the company has been in business for seven years.
