Digital Development Corp has been awarded a contract by Bell Telephone Manufacturing Co. of Antwerp, Belgium, formerly ITT Europe’s telecommunications manufacturing arm and now part of Alcatel NV, to supply its SSDM-100E semiconductor memory products to use on the Metaconta 10C and 10CN telephone exchanges: the agreement is bad news for Vermont Research, wasting away in the far North-East of the US, because the SSDM-100E replaces the old-fashioned VRC 4016 drum memory that was formerly used on the Metaconta exchanges, and continuing business with exchange manufacturers has been the one bright spot in the dwindling drum memory market.
