Newbridge Networks Inc, Ottawa announced it is working with DIAX Telecommunications A/S on the development of open standard A.931W interface for the Newbridge Transmission Access Processor product: when the project is completed – with internetworking trials planned for later in the year – it will enable Newbridge to connect Transmission Access Processor products directly to DIAX exchanges in switched wideband networks; Q.931W is a subset off the CCITT Q.931 standard, specifically relating to N by 64Kbps applications; DIAX – a Danish company owned by L M Ericsson Telefon AB and Bang & Olufsen A/S – supplies some 10 European phone companies with switches for their 2Mbps bandwidth-on-demand networks.
