Brooktree Corp, San Diego has signed a non-binding letter of intent to acquire all assets of Base2 Systems Inc, a Boulder, Colorado-based designer and marketer of integrated circuits for the telecommunications market: the purchase price will consist of a $9m cash up front and up to $7m more contingent on Base2 achieving specified financial milestones and continued employment of key Base2 staff over the next three years; the target designs and markets ANSI/CCITT standards-based integrated circuits for the telecommunications industry for integration into switching, transmission and test equipment for telephone operating companies, long distance carriers, private network operators and equipment developers.
