Salt Lake City, Utah-based Dayna Communications Inc has announced the DaynaSTAR MiniHub-5, a five-port 10Base-T hub for twisted-pair Ethernet networks. The 5 by 3 hub has five RJ-45 ports, including a crossover port that can be used for hub-to-hub connections without special reverse cabling; a switch enables users to set the port for straight connection to a fifth network device, or crossover connection to another hub. In offices equipped with a single 10Base-T wall jack, the MiniHub-5 can be used to add four additional network connections, says the company, which adds that it can also be used as a repeater to extend twisted-pair Ethernet cable distances. No management software is required. The product will retail for $200, and ship from the middle of next month. Dayna has also unveiled the Pocket SCSI/Link, an addition to its DaynaPORT line of Macintosh Ethernet adaptors. The product is a portable external Ethernet adaptor for the Macintosh Pocket SCSI/Link, featuring a PowerMiser ADB power cable allowing users to draw power off the Apple Desktop Bus port of the Mac, an optional lightweight power supply, and two SCSI ports – one HDI-30 and one DB-25. It comes in two models: Pocket SCSI/Link-T, which has a single RJ-45 connector for 10Base-T Ethernet networks; and Pocket SCSI/Link-M which includes connectors for both 10Base-T and Thin Ethernet cable systems. Pocket SCSI/Link-T and Pocket SCSI/Link-M have suggested US retail prices of $300 and $370 respectively, and both models are available immediately.
