WANdisco has received a deal from an undisclosed Tier 1 UK telecoms operator for the delivery of its Big Data applications.
Claimed to be the software provider’s first Big Data customer, the telecom operator will deploy WANdisco’s Big Data offering to ensure 100% uptime for its business-critical data storage facilities that are distributed across multiple locations.
As per the agreement, the customer will deploy WANdisco’s Hadoop Console, which is a plug-and-play software to deploy, manage and monitor enterprise-class Hadoop clusters, as well as its Non-Stop NameNode server.
WANdisco’s software is aimed at allowing firms to synchronise the computer programmes and documents used in different locations.
The software incorporates technology acquired from AltoStor, which is merged with Hadoop, a cloud storage tool deployed for Big Data.
WANdisco’s applications address the issues arises during the deployment of Hadoop for managing Big Data and company claims solutions offer zero downtime and zero data loss even during a natural disaster at a storage site or during scheduled site maintenance.
WANdisco has recorded pretax loss of $7.9m during full year, compared to a loss of $1.2m while recorded a revenue of $6m compared to $3.8m last year.
