Quest Software subsidiary Vizioncore has released vRanger Pro with an add-on FlashRestore technology that provides immediate recovery from backup repository and raises application availability service levels.

Applications can instantly use images as the FlashRestore technology has been integrated into vRanger Pro, the company said.

While the VMDK file is relocated using VMware Storage VMotion from the backup repository, end users can continue working and maintain productivity without any disruption.

The integration of FlashRestore with vRanger Pro GUI console enables use of FlashRestore capabilities for administrators along with backup, replication and other recovery features, while integration of GUI with VMware Storage VMotion simplifies the use of vSphere capabilities for administrators, and VM boot access offers immediate application availability.

VM boot access enables administrators to begin VM restore and then move on to other tasks immediately, without having to wait to reconnect end-users to applications, while the use of Storage VMotion ensures continuous service availability, complete transaction integrity, and zero downtime for applications.

Quest Software DVP virtualisation management Mike Coffman said that by bringing immediate restore technology to vRanger Pro image-based recovery, the impact of system outages on end-user productivity is dramatically reduced and the process of bringing systems back online will be faster and more simplified.
