Tibco Software announced the acquisition of privately-held log management maven LogLogic, on undisclosed terms.
LogLogic says its platform, which ingests and then enables the analysis of large volumes of machine-generated data, was specifically designed for the enterprise and cloud. It says it can help to monitor real-time events and so help a firm assess risks.
LogLogic was probably leading the field of log management firms – it was in the Leaders quadrant in Gartner’s 2011 Security Information and Event Management Magic Quadrant – with competitors including LogRhythm, Splunk and Tripwire.
LogLogic says its log management technology can also be called on to capture and analyse security-related threats in real-time.
LogLogic claims to have over 1,000 customers worldwide including Astrium, The Body Shop, Cerner, EADS, Plantronics, The United States National Archives and Records Administration and the University of Manitoba.
The transaction was approved by the board of directors of each company but is subject to customary conditions and is expected to close in the second quarter of Tibco’s fiscal year 2012. CBR estimates the transaction was valued at approximately $65m.
