Telenet, a Belgian provider of media and telecommunication services, has selected Teradata to build a new data warehouse, which is reported to become the foundation for more in-depth analysis of Telenet’s telecom, internet and digital TV customers.
Teradata said that the single integrated view of customers will allow Telenet to better serve their customers with good offers and pricing while maximizing corporate profits.
According to Teradata, the core of the project is the Teradata Communications Logical Data Model (LDM), an advanced data model that enables communication companies to model their business and customer data for in-depth analysis. Telenet will shortly start implementing the LDM in building the data warehouse. This will take several years with intermediate business deliveries every three to four months, said the company.
Furthermore the company said that its Business Intelligence Competence Center (BICC) acts as an internal service provider that feeds all Telenet divisions with analysis of customer information, such as sales and user data, customer loyalty and call center statistics. Telenet selected the Teradata Communications LDM as a component in better modeling and centralizing customer data across these different areas and functions for sophisticated insightful analysis.
Stefan Kennis, director of the BICC, said: We investigated several suppliers, but Teradata offered us the mature model and also presented excellent references. Its model will become the basis of our new data warehouse that will offer Telenet important added value and help us improve our customer service in general.
