Tangent has released a new version of an email archival appliance DataCove 2.0, which it claims to include faster search, reduced storage requirements, digital signing for increased security, and support for multiple mail systems.
DataCove is a simple plug and play email archival appliance that allows organisations of all sizes to index, archive, and retrieve electronically stored information, the company said.
According to Tangent, DataCove 2.0 eases storage requirements through stubbing, which displays inbox mail, and also allows content to reside outside the mail server. Besides easing mail server storage requirements, it eliminates the need for an additional software client to view archived mail and provides integration with Exchange and Outlook.
The company said that digital signing is a new feature for users who require increased security for long term e-mail storage. All e-mail is encrypted and permanently stored using internal encryption keys. Data can’t be deleted from the device and any changes to the data are logged with all old data still stored in the original format.
DataCove 2.0 also supports multiple mail systems, maximises compression ratios to provide maximum storage and allows administrators to import all PST files directly without using a separate import program. It also features envelope journaling and has a new GUI design with search queries, the company said.
Preston Ewasiuk, product manager at Tangent, said: “The tremendous growth of data, the complexity of compliant storage and the need for fast, granular retrieval of information from within networks with tens and hundreds of Terabytes of data, has created an overwhelming demand for a cost effective, long term archival solution like DataCove 2.0 for enterprise class networks.”
