Business intelligence (BI) software provider Tableau Software has optimised its free data visualisation and publishing service ‘ Tableau Public’ for iPad users.

The company said that Tableau Public’s new capabilities on the iPad brings the concept of interactive, social data analysis and sharing to the mobile world.

The company expects the tool to allow people to analyse, publish and share data on-the-go – from the newsroom to the classroom.

Tableau Software also said that for journalists and Web publishers who use the tool, the move to iPad represents a new marketplace to share ideas and start conversations with an emerging audience of millions of tablet users

Tableau Public allows users to create interactive visualisations from public data and publish them anywhere online, including blogs, websites, social media properties, etc.

Tableau CEO and Co-founder Christian Chabot said the company’s vision was to make it easy for people to tell stories with data.

"We wanted to make data more accessible, social and fun, and now we’re bringing this concept to mobile platforms. Tableau Public for the iPad is a tremendous next-step toward our vision, empowering humans at work and at home by making data more accessible," Chabot said.
