It seems like Sony Ericsson has finally decided to move away from its memory stick micro card format to a standard microSD card in all its handsets.
The company has used microSD card in its recently released handsets – the Satio, Aino and Yari phones. microSD is a format for removable flash memory cards which is commonly used in cellular phones and also in many other portable devices.
Speaking to Trustedreviews, Sony Ericsson Global Marketing Director Fortune Alexander said that all new Sony Ericsson phones will be using the new format from now on and will leave Sony as the only major manufacturer still using the storage technology in its products.
It is not confirmed whether Sony will be phasing away memory sticks altogether but its recent support for the universal charger movement and swap from Sony Ericsson chargers to micro USB seems like the company is also set to use microSD card in its handsets.
