Pentaho, a provider of commercial open source business intelligence services, has announced that Sircon, a provider of licensing and compliance applications for the insurance industry, is using its Pentaho Reporting Enterprise Edition as part of its suite of SaaS-based applications to offer self-service reporting to Sircon clients.

Pentaho said that its multi-tenant architecture allows them to support users across different organizations with a single instance of Pentaho integrated with complementary technology from Oracle and Sun Microsystems.

Pentaho also said that Sircon wanted to enable power users to create and publish their own reports, so that custom reports could be managed and delivered side-by-side with Sircon’s packaged reports in a unified web application. Pentaho Reporting Enterprise Edition addressed all of these needs, and allowed Sircon to upgrade its functional capabilities while reducing their costs for embedded reporting.

Gary Gummig, vice president of e-government solutions at Sircon, said: Pentaho Reporting Enterprise Edition is a fit for our software-as-a-service (SaaS)-based applications. It is functionally rich, technologically sound, and very easy to use. Pentaho has been a great partner throughout every phase of our design and deployment, helping us to provide value to our customers.
