Lexar Media, a provider of memory products for digital media, has launched Image Rescue 4 software, a new version of its image recovery software.

The company said that the new version of the image recovery software allows photographers to recover lost or deleted images and videos from any memory card form factor, from any manufacturer, and is compatible with all mass storage-compliant card readers.

According to Lexar, Image Rescue 4 features one-step recovery interface, automatic update allows compatibility with new RAW images and operating systems, and expanded language support. The new software is compatible with PC and Mac operating systems, and supports multiple languages, including English, Japanese, French, German, Italian, and Portuguese.

Lexar added that for recovering an image, the software scans every sector of a memory card and automatically reports any errors. It also allows photographers to perform low-level formatting of their cards, enabling them to restore the card’s factory settings.

Jeff Cable, director of marketing at Lexar Media, said: “For professional and hobbyist photographers alike, the thought of losing any important pictures or videos is a nightmare. With its extensive recovery capabilities, Image Rescue 4 software is a powerful yet simple tool to help get those files back, and preserve special memories or assignments that might otherwise have been lost forever.

“The latest version of Image Rescue software will provide a friendlier user interface, support multiple languages and help photographers around the world recover their lost images and videos, regardless of which brand or type of memory card they use, providing valuable peace of mind to both professionals and consumers alike.”

Lexar Image Rescue 4 software is available with the purchase of any Lexar Professional CompactFlash and Secure Digital High Capacity memory cards, and can also be purchased online at the company website.
