Information Builders has entered into a partnership with Fractal Analytics, to develop predictive analytics offerings on Information Builders’ WebFOCUS RStat BI and data-mining platform, aimed at helping clients provide an end-to-end offering from development to deployment.
Under the partnership, the two companies are currently working with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department (CMPD) to develop crime-forecasting applications. Using historical data of crime patterns, Fractal is developing predictive models that will tell the CMPD when and where they should deploy resources to fight crime.
Information Builders said that it will implement these models through WebFOCUS, allowing the police department to drill down through data and reallocate officers to targeted areas to reduce criminal activity. When implemented, the WebFOCUS RStat application will enable CMPD supervisors to forecast crime and develop strategies to prevent it.
In addition, the two companies are also currently developing and deploying custom analytic offerings for government, retail, healthcare, financial services, law enforcement, insurance, and CRM/marketing-specific deployments.
The offering set covers areas such as forecasting crime, predicting impact of price changes and promotions, insurance loss models, and credit risk models.
Rado Kotorov, technical director of strategic product management at Information Builders, said: "By partnering with Fractal, Information Builders can build and scale high-quality predictive models and make them functional for the end user faster than any of our competitors.
"Having Fractal’s subject matter expertise at hand to build custom predictive models and scoring applications for our customers helps us reduce time-to-market and costs of custom-built predictive analytic solutions."
