HP has launched the new Data Protector 8.1 software solution that allows carrying out adaptive, dynamic and self-aware backup and recovery tasks.
Aimed at enhancing business resiliency, continuity and uptime, the new offering takes advantage of real-time operational analytics and distinct business needs to cleverly observe, adapt and optimise how an organisation handles its storage infrastructure, resources and data policies.
HP Autonomy Data Protection general manager David Jones said that the latest launch marks the end of backup.
"HP Data Protector delivers the industry’s first self-aware, self-healing and self-managing solution that will transform how forward-thinking organisations power and protect the modern data centre," Jones said.
The latest offering allows prioritisation, prediction, recommendation and automation, in addition to several improvements targeting greater intelligence, scalability and interoperability with major enterprise platforms, including SAP HANA.
The integration with SAP HANA will allow SAP HANA administrators to manage the backup and recovery operations directly from the HANA console.
In addition, the latest version of HP Data Protector also offers more integration with Microsoft Active Directory, VMware vCenter and SAP HANA software, while also offers improved compression via superior integration with HP StoreOnce and HP 3Par StoreServ software.
It also comes with many new platform certifications, including application agent support for SharePoint 2013 and IBM DB2 10.5, disk agent support for Debian 7.0 and AIX 64 bit, and media agent support for AIX 64 bit and Solaris 11.1.
