Business TV channel CNBC Asia Pacific has deployed Juniper Networks’ EX4200 ethernet switches to support live broadcasting from the Singapore Exchange.
Juniper said that EX4200 ethernet switches are part of an IP offering implemented by Nevion, its partner that addresses CNBC’s need for multiple video links in real-time.
The offering enables CNBC Asia Pacific to reduce its transmission costs by substituting Gigabit ethernet for multiple video links and allow transmissions of up to 15 SD-SDI video streams, and enhanced production capabilities with interactive communication between sites.
In addition, the ethernet switches provide IP network connection between Nevion systems in the remote studio at Singapore Exchange and Starhub’s Gigabit ethernet network.
The offering also includes Nevion’s standards-based and energy-efficient Ventura system for compression, multiplexing and protection, and flashlink for audio embedding.
CNBC Asia Pacific operations senior vice president Peter Juno said that the Juniper and Nevion offering provides performance, reliability and quality the company need to embrace IP networking for professional broadcast TV production.
