Huawei, a provider of telecommunications network offerings, has unveiled the Eudemon 8000E (E8000E), a next-gen firewall with Terabit processing capability.
The new offering features processing and interface capabilities that are specifically designed to meet the complex requirements of cloud computing applications.
The firewall offering is built for migration from IPv4 to IPv6 and provides security protection for large-scale networks and cloud architectures.
Huawei said that the E8000E incorporates its solar chip technology to create a full-switching system that provides a switching capacity of 400Gb/s per slot and 6.4Tb/s for the entire system.
In addition, the offering also uses hardware-accelerated multi-core CPU, which provides integration of high end security functions.
The E8000E design facilitates service expansion allowing for the addition of key security applications including: Intrusion Prevention System (IPS), and Virtual Private Network (VPN) to complement the firewall.
Further, the firewall uses multi-level, multi-core distributed architecture with isolated forwarding, service acceleration, QoS, and security computing components and supports line-rate forwarding on 100Gb/s interfaces, the company said.
Huawei carrier security product line president Lei Yikang said the company’s goal is to help carriers and enterprises better protect their core services, enhance operational efficiency and security, and more effectively serve their customers.
"That is why we are committed to developing end-to-end security systems that provide protective offerings across desktop, application delivery, network, and operations," Yikang said.
