IT services vendor CSC has announced a line of enterprise services it said will increase workplace flexibility by enabling companies to host and centrally manage virtual desktop machines in data centers.

CSC Virtual Desktop Services include CSC Dynamic Desktop based on Citrix XenDesktop, and CSC Anywhere Desktop, based on Sun Microsystems’ Sun Ray thin clients. The company is collaborating with Dell and NetApp to design and deploy CSC Dynamic Desktop in their virtual desktop IT environment.

It is establishing regional service centers in North America and Europe to support the new services. The centers leverage the company’s world sourcing capabilities to provide a full range of support, including help desk, transition, configuration, monitoring, applications and asset management services.

Desktop virtualization enables users to access their desktop and work from virtually anywhere, anytime, from around the world. CSC Virtual Desktop Services offerings help customers improve compliance and reduce security risk, decrease maintenance costs, simplify and enhance user mobility and deliver on green agendas.

Russ Owen, president of Americas Commercial Group at CSC, said: These offerings further strengthen our position in the virtual desktop services market. We are pleased to be working with Citrix, Dell, and Sun to provide customers with sound business solutions backed by IT services leaders.
