Cupertino, California-based Symantec will provide Computer Sciences Corporation (CSC) with security monitoring services, including intrusion detection, security device management, data analysis and correlation, through its Managed Security Services division. This will add to CSC’s existing portfolio of security services that it primarily provides for US government agencies including security architecture and planning, vulnerability assessments, security device monitoring, intrusion prevention systems, incident response, and forensics.

Symantec expanded into the managed security services market in July 2002 with the acquisition of specialist MSS provider Riptech for $145m in cash. Riptech specialized in providing network monitoring services for US government agencies.
