Packaged software deployment company Crossworlds Software Inc will be two years old next month and has come a long way from the one-woman operation it was when it started out. The Burlingame, California based company now sports a staff of 140 and has offices in 15 countries across the world, including Australia, France and Germany, as well as throughout the US. The company has just struck its first UK deal with SAP implementation consultancy specialist Axon. Founder, president and chief operating officer Katrina Garnett plans to open an office in the UK shortly but as of yet has no firm plans. Crossworlds deals with technology known as Processware software, which is cross-application business functionality that enables different enterprise applications from various vendors to work together, out of the box. Crossworlds has agreements with enterprise resource planning operations PeopleSoft Inc, SAP AG and Baan Co NV, and agreements with front office vendors Avantis Plc, Scopus Technology Inc, Trilogy Development Group Inc and Clarify Inc which use the company’s technology. Crossworlds recently completed a round of funding that raised $31m, bringing total funds raised to $40.6m to date. When the company set out on its latest round, it was hoping to raise $25m. Crossworlds has some big investors including Compaq Computer Corp, Intel Corp, Ernst & Young and SAP AG; as well as private investment coming from individual chief executive officers such as Michael Dell. Although the company has not yet reached profitability, Garnett anticipates she will float the company within the next 12 to 18 months. But she has yet to make a decision on what exchange she would like her company to trade on, and at the moment is looking to the German Nurmat exchange that celebrated its first anniversary on Tuesday.
