Officials at the Sainte-Foy-based software firm said the release offers improvements in the areas of browser integration (now offering seamless links to IE and Firefox) a redesigned UI, expanded language support for Spanish and several performance tweaks.

CDS allows users to search email, file systems and multimedia repositories directly from their desktop Web browsers. The software works runs on Windows systems and IE 5.0 or later browsers.

While Copernic is still a minnow in the world of search, the company seems to be gaining momentum at the desktop level at least.

Our job is to keep making CDS better, said Eric Bouchard, executive vice president of products at Copernic. We have a real vision for where we want to take desktop search.
