Constellar Corp, the data transformation company once known as the SQL Group, launched Constellar WarehouseBuilder back in May, a tool designed for single pass acquisition, transformation, aggregation and loading of complex volumes of data into multiple data warehouses, data marts, and OLAP products. Constellar says the tool provides a multi-dimensional view of the data for delivery into data warehouses, data marts, and OLAP tools such as Arbor’s Essbase and OracleExpress. It bypasses the need for separate data mart and data warehouse stuffer products and provides centralized information management. The company says the tool is the first in a family of products intended to extend the core functionality of its Constellar Hub product, which provides data transformation, data movement and interface management between applications from multiple vendors. It runs on HP/UX, Sun Solaris, IBM AIX Unix flavors and on Windows NT servers, and Windows 95 and NT clients. Constellar, originally a UK company itself before moving its base to Redwood Shores, California, turned to British software house Relational Matters Plc for the technology, and took the Guildford, Surrey-based firm’s Syntagma multi-dimensional information management tool on an OEM basis.
