The manufacturer is dead but the Escom name lives on at retail. German computer maker ComTech GmbH has taken over Escom AG’s network of 90 stores in Germany and has now made its first foray abroad, buying a 65% stake in Escom’s French arm, which has 130 retail outlets at major merchants. ComTech, Waiblingen, is now Germany’s second-largest computer retailer with 195 stores.
