Computing Devices Co Ltd, the St Leonards, Sussex-based company that supplies military technology systems to the British Army, Royal Air Force and Royal Navy, is to distribute and market Thomson-CSF SA’s MLX UR Unix workstations, under an agreement signed this week. The MLX UR range was specifically designed for military applications and is expandable from 2 to 25 MIPS using 68000 family and 88000 RISC microprocessors. Computing Devices says the new machines will complement and be integrated with the existing ruggedised workstations it has developed to meet the military’s command information systems requirements. Thomson signed a similar agreement last year, with Control Data Corp (now Computing Devices International) in the US.
