The gossip that H&R Block’s CompuServe would soon buy Source Telecomputing Corp, McLean, Virginia (CI No 1,209) has been proved accurate. The Source bulletin board service has now shut down and users are being offered incentives to convert to CompuServe membership – an ID number, password and $20 user credit have been mailed to 53,000 subscribers. The business was acquired from Welsh, Carson, Anderson & Stowe for an undisclosed amount.
