Compaq Computer Corp today announced its first 80386-based portable and a new version of the Deskpro 386, using a 20MHz version of the chip in each. The Portable weighs in at 20 lbs, has a plasma display, disk cacheing software and 5.25 floppy. It costs $8,000 with 1Mb memory and 40Mb disk, $10,000 with 100Mb disk. The Deskpro 386/20 comes with 60Mb, 130Mb or 300Mb hard disk at $7,500, $9,500 and $12,500 respectively.
