The new solutions will enable customers to extend and simplify the management of enterprise and e-business infrastructures running on Compaq industry-standard computing platforms in Microsoft Windows Server environments. As part of the agreement, announced at Networld + Interop in Las Vegas, Compaq will designate NetIQ as its premier partner for solutions built on MOM. In turn, NetIQ will designate Compaq as its premier Windows server hardware partner for management solutions.

Compaq is always seeking innovative new ways to drive down the operational and infrastructure costs of customers’ distributed server environments without compromising trademark ProLiant(TM) server performance, security or availability, said Paul Santeler, vice president, Modular Servers, Compaq Industry Standard Server Group. As ProLiant customers begin to adopt MOM, integration of existing Compaq Intelligent Manageability tools will be critical for delivering enhanced functionality and simplification. Our partnership with NetIQ will facilitate the rapid delivery of this integration.

According to the agreement, Compaq and NetIQ will jointly develop and market Extended Management Packs(TM) (XMPs(TM)) that build on the current NetIQ Compaq Insight Manager Active Knowledge Module(TM) (AKM(TM)). The new solutions to facilitate MOM integration for Compaq customers will complement the high value that ProLiant customers receive from Compaq Intelligent Manageability tools for a wide range of their Compaq infrastructure components.

Customers rely on NetIQ for industry-leading, secure, scalable solutions for the enterprise, said Rick Pleczko, senior vice president of marketing at NetIQ Corporation. Entering into this agreement with Compaq enables our mutual customers to streamline the management of their distributed Compaq-based server environment and achieve their availability and performance goals quickly and easily.

By working together, NetIQ and Compaq offer customers a powerhouse management solution for Microsoft Operations Manager 2000, said David Hamilton, director of product marketing for Management Technologies at Microsoft. Compaq and NetIQ both provide the technology, services and execution needed to simplify the management of customers’ distributed environments.

History of Joint Development
