Compaq Computer Corp and the Fisher-Price Inc unit of Mattel Inc showed off the first fruits of their alliance on educational and entertainment computer products for children ages three to seven at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. Called Wonder Tools, the line includes interactive computer toys, pre-school-appropriate computer peripherals, and stand-alone software titles for children and families. A $150 driving driving console with a steering wheel and horn enables small children to take fantasy trips on their family’s personal computer. The Wonder Tools Keyboard with oversized keys is $130, and several CD-ROM programmes. Wonder Tools are designed to be used with any Windows-based computer and will ship in the US in the second half of the year. The two partners plan local versions for European markets in early 1997.
