Cogent’s new system will replace the current fingerprint identification system from the incumbent provider. Cogent says its system will deliver higher accuracy and shorter response time, along with improved features and functionality based on the latest international NIST standards used by other law enforcement agencies.

Under the contract, Cogent will electronically convert the HKPF’s existing fingerprint records and latent hard copy records. The new system will be capable of storing 1,000 pixels per inch image resolution records and include the ability to search both flat and rolled fingerprints and palm prints. Cogent will include customized workflows and process modules to monitor the processing of fingerprint evidence.

This contract award is a very important win as it expands our presence in Hong Kong where Cogent technology is already being used for Hong Kong’s National Smart Identity Card System, commented Ming Hsieh, president and CEO of Cogent Systems.
