The hospital is using Imprivata’s OneSign ESSO appliance, which the company says will provide medical staff and nurses throughout the organization with the ability to SSO-enable for password management. It is hoped this will allow the hospital to more effectively protect business-critical applications, reduce IT help desk costs and comply with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
Imprivata’s authentication platform has replaced the hospital’s existing password management policy which required employees and administrators to select passwords which were easily forgotten.
By improving overall security processes across the enterprise, OneSign enables healthcare facilities like City Hospital to protect critical patient records in an affordable and seamless manner, said Patrick Morley, president of Imprivata.
