Citrix Systems has launched NetScaler MPX 10500 and 12500, two new additions to NetScaler MPX family of application networking systems.

According to Citrix, these new midrange models provide between 5 and 8 Gbps HTTP performance with support for all NetScaler features, including L4-7 load balancing, application acceleration, server offload, and application firewall security.

Citrix said that the NetScaler MPX architecture is expected to consume lowest power in its class. The new midrange appliances can also be deployed alongside NetScaler VPX virtual appliances, enabling new datacentre architectures that integrate the performance of hardware appliances with the agility of software-based virtual appliances.

The company said that the NetScaler MPX architecture incorporates advanced, multi-core Intel processors and runs NetScaler nCore technology to process multiple complex operations on each application workload in parallel at multi-gigabit speeds.

In addition, the architecture also supports the consolidation of functions that have traditionally been available on discrete applications, including SSL VPNs and application firewalls.

The new NetScaler MPX 10500 and 12500 appliances are available and pricing begins at $42,000. Reportedly, customers can upgrade from a 10500 to a 12500 with a software license upgrade.
