San Jose, California-based Cisco Systems Inc has announced two additional models in its AccessPro PC Card multiprotocol router board family (CI No 2,514) which add support for Integrated Services Digital Network Basic Rate Interface communications. In addition to the Basic Rate Interface, which supports two 64Kbps B channels, and one 16Kbps D channel, the products have one Ethernet or Token Ring port, two synchronous ports, and a single asynchronous serial port. The Ethernet version costs from $2,200 to $4,000, with the Token Ring model priced from $2,700 to $4,500, depending on the feature set of Cisco’s Internetwork Operating Systems selected. The Ethernet model is shipping now, with the Token Ring version due to ship later this month. Cisco has also announced the promotion of two of its senior executives. Donald LeBeau, formerly the company’s vice-president of US sales, has become senior vice-president of worldwide operations, reporting to John Chambers, who is due to take over as president and chief executive at the end of the month. LeBeau will be responsible for worldwide field operations in North America, Asia, Australia, Europe, Japan and Latin America. Meanwhile, James Richardson, who is currently vice president of intercontinental operations, is set to assume the position of vice-president of the company’s North American operations.
