Latest entrant into the erasable optical disk drive market is Chinon Co of Japan, whose Chinon America Information Equipment Division in Torrance, California will launch a 128Mb 3.5 magneto-optical disk drive for MS-DOS and Macintosh computers. Chinon will offer internal and external versions of the drive, which has an average access time of 43mS, data transfer rate of 640K-bytes per second and a rotational speed of 3,000rpm. The drive, which supports desktop computers and workstations as well as tower configurations, can be mounted horizontally or vertically.
