Paris-based Cap Gemini Ernest & Young SA (CGE&Y) has made no secret of its German ambitions. It has been seeking companies to buy since the Ernst & Young acquisition in 2001.
In January 2003, it emerged that talks to establish a partnership between Deutsche Telekom’s [DT] T-Systems services unit and CGE&Y had broken down.
CGE&Y already has some of its largest outsourcing contracts in the German market, including an estimated $400 million 10-year project with German engineering firm Hochtief AG [HOTG.F], from which it took on 250 employees in July 2001.
Last month, it bid for French systems integrator Transiciel SA [TCIP.PA], with an offer worth E244 million euros ($284 million).
