In the absence of Intel Corp’s i820 Camino chipset, the company is expected to launch the i840 Carmel chipset aimed at workstations, as part of its 15-chip launch in San Jose on Monday. The Carmel chipset, which succeeds the 450NX, is expected to support two-way Xeon systems using the 133MHz bus and four way using 100MHz. It is thought to work with new Rambus DRAM memory chips without problems, unlike Camino.
