Canon (UK) Ltd took the opportunity to preview its S2000 product which is an integrated personal computer, telephone, answering machine and fax all in a unit the size of a personal computer: it has a 10MHz 8086 microprocessor, 640Kb of memory, dual 3.5 floppy disk drives, a 10 EGA monochrome screen that doubles as a pressure-sensitive panel and serial and interface ports; one of the beauties of the S2000 is that you can fax documents directly from disk or from wordprocessing software; Canon launched the product in the US at Comdex last Autumn at a price of $3,000 but it hasn’t sold very well there because users want a more powerful microprocessor; release date in the UK is this autumn – no price given.
