Canon Inc plans to increase capital spending 12% to $485m this year, with $69m going on building a new headquarters in the Tokyo suburbs, $28m on a sports complex for employees and $28m to increase production of copier supplies: Canon is also planning to increase research and development expenditure 25% to $690m, and looks for 1990 sales of computer-related products to increase 13% to $1,730m.
