One of the two major flight simulation companies with bases down in Sussex, Rediffusion Simulation, was sold to General Motors Corp’s Hughes unit earlier this year, and now the other, the Link division of Singer Co, is also changing hands. This time, the buyer is Montreal-based CAE Industries Ltd, which is paying $554m for Singer Link. CAE is already a major player in flight simulators for commercial aircraft, but will run Singer Link, which is big in simulators for warplanes, as a separate subsidiary headquartered in the US. Singer Link does $550m a year and employs 7,500 people. CAE did $Can31.1m net on turnover of $341.8m in the year to March 31.
